Hazardous area supply is mostly about not assuming

The Panipat refinery and petrochemical belt, and the contractors and fabricators who serve it, work to a standard that very little else in northern Haryana requires. Areas are classified. Materials are specified rather than chosen. Certificates are checked, not filed.

In that environment the difference between a good and a bad supplier is not price or even delivery. It is whether the supplier asks a question when the datasheet is incomplete, or quietly assumes something and ships it. An assumption discovered at site is a delay; an assumption discovered after installation in a classified area is considerably worse.

We would rather come back with three questions and quote two days later than send something that has to be returned. On this belt that is not caution, it is the minimum standard.

What has to be right before manufacture

Zone, gas group and temperature class, from the drawing. Not inferred from the process, not assumed from the plant. These come off the area classification drawing, and an instrument certified for IIB is not acceptable in a IIC area regardless of how well it performs.

Wetted material against the actual service. SS316L is not a universal answer in hydrocarbon and sour service. Chlorides, H2S and some process streams need something else, and the wrong choice fails in a way that matters here.

Thermowell wake frequency, calculated not assumed. On high-velocity steam and gas lines a well that fails the ASME PTC 19.3 TW calculation eventually breaks off inside the pipe. In a refinery that is a release, not a lost instrument. We run the calculation free before you order.

Certification that will survive an audit. CCoE / PESO certificates supplied with the goods, material test certificates traceable to the heat, and calibration certificates with as-found readings. Assembling this afterwards is far harder than getting it with the delivery.

Cable entries and glands as part of the certified assembly. A certified enclosure with an uncertified gland is not a certified installation, and it is a common finding.

What Panipat Refinery Belt plants ask us for most
Classified areas

Flameproof instruments specified against your zone, gas group and temperature class, with CCoE / PESO certificates shipped with the goods and Ex d glands as part of the assembly.

Hydrocarbon service

Gauges and transmitters with wetted materials matched to the stream, diaphragm seals where the medium demands them, and proper over-range protection.

Temperature measurement

Bar stock thermowells with no weld in the wetted section, wake frequency calculation run free, spring-loaded sensors and head-mounted transmitters.

Contractors & fabricators

Supply against a project tag list with the documentation package the end client will demand, delivered together rather than in pieces.

Instrumentation we supply into the Panipat belt

For classified areas: flameproof pressure and temperature instruments, transmitters and switches specified against your zone, gas group and temperature class, with CCoE / PESO certificate copies shipped with the goods and Ex d glands supplied as part of the assembly.

For hydrocarbon and utility service: pressure gauges and transmitters with wetted materials matched to the stream, diaphragm seals where the medium demands them, and gauges with proper over-range protection.

For temperature measurement: bar stock thermowells machined from solid with no weld in the wetted section, wake frequency calculation run free, RTDs and thermocouples with spring loading, and head-mounted transmitters where cable runs are long.

For contractors and fabricators: supply against a project tag list with the documentation package the end client will demand, delivered together rather than in pieces.

Where packing machinery fits on this belt

Less than on other pages, and we would rather say so than stretch the point. A refinery does not run a carton line. What it and its contractors do have are stores, workshops and despatch points that pack spares, fabricated items and returned equipment.

For those, semi-automatic strapping and carton sealing on a bench is the right scale. Drum handling matters more — drum carriers and hydraulic pallet trucks rated for full drums are used constantly around lubricant, chemical and effluent handling.

Where a contractor packs and ships fabricated assemblies, strapping for crated and bundled loads with tension set for the item is what is actually needed. We supply that, and we do not pretend a refinery needs an in-line packing system.

Stores & workshop packing

Bench-scale strapping and carton sealing for spares, fabricated items and returned equipment — the honest scale for this belt.

Drum handling

Drum carriers and hydraulic pallet trucks rated for full drums, used constantly around lubricant, chemical and effluent handling.

Crated & bundled loads

Where a contractor ships fabricated assemblies, strapping with tension set for the item rather than a generic carton.

What we would not sell you

A refinery does not run a carton line, and we will not stretch the point to quote one.

Working with a plant or a contractor

Supplying a plant directly? Send the tag list with the area classification data and the material specification. We quote against it, ask where it is silent, and supply with the full certificate package.

Working as an EPC or fabrication contractor? Tell us the end client's documentation requirements at enquiry stage, not at delivery. Certificates that have to satisfy a refinery client are best organised before manufacture rather than chased afterwards.

Maintenance and shutdown work? Shutdowns are planned, and instrument requirements are usually known weeks ahead. Send the list early and we schedule it so it lands before the window rather than during it.

Going deeper on the packing side

The packing and sealing machinery mentioned above has its own pages, written around the machine rather than the area. If that is the part you are working on, start there.

Questions buyers here ask

What do you need to quote a flameproof instrument?

Zone, gas group and temperature class from your area classification drawing, plus the process conditions and wetted material requirement. We do not infer these from the process, because an instrument certified for IIB is not acceptable in a IIC area.

Do CCoE certificates come with the goods?

Yes, copies ship with the delivery for your safety file rather than being sent later. Ex d glands are supplied as part of the assembly, because a certified enclosure with an uncertified gland is not a certified installation.

Do you run thermowell wake frequency calculations?

Yes, free, before you order. On high-velocity steam and gas lines a well that fails the ASME PTC 19.3 TW calculation eventually breaks off inside the pipe, and in a refinery that is a release rather than a lost instrument.

Why insist on bar stock thermowells?

Because a bar stock well is machined from solid, so there is no weld anywhere the process touches. A fabricated well has a welded joint that is the usual point of failure, and the price difference is small compared with the failure mode.

We are an EPC contractor. Can you supply against our client documentation requirements?

Yes, and please tell us those requirements at enquiry stage rather than at delivery. Certificates that have to satisfy a refinery client are far easier to organise before manufacture than to chase afterwards.

Can you supply for a planned shutdown?

Yes, and send the list early. Shutdown windows are fixed, so we schedule delivery to land before the window rather than during it.

Do you supply packing equipment here too?

For stores, workshops and despatch points, yes — bench-scale strapping and sealing, and drum handling rated for full drums. We would not pretend a refinery needs an in-line packing system.
