Instrumentation Supplier in Kolkata & Eastern India

Kolkata anchors eastern India's heavy industry — steel and metals, engineering and foundries, jute and textiles, chemicals and fertiliser, thermal power and a major port. Much of it is old, hot, hard-duty plant where instruments have to survive rather than merely measure.

Instrumentation in Kolkata

Why Kolkata plants buy from Vedika Instruments

Kolkata and the wider eastern belt — Howrah, Durgapur, Asansol, Haldia and the Hooghly industrial corridor — carry some of the country's oldest and heaviest industry. Steel, alloys and metals; foundries and heavy engineering; jute and textiles; chemicals and fertiliser; thermal power; and the Haldia refinery and port. This is hot, hard, continuous duty — furnaces, boilers, hydraulic presses, aggressive media and high pressures — the environment in which a wrongly-specified instrument fails soonest and most visibly.

That is precisely the duty we manufacture for. Furnace and foundry thermocouples with the right sheath and protection tube; high-pressure steam and boiler gauges with siphons and gauge savers; hydraulic press gauges that survive spikes; diaphragm sealed instruments for corrosive chemical and fertiliser media; and, for the Haldia belt, certified transmitters and remote seals. All of it built, ranged and calibrated at our works and shipped with traceable certificates for the plants that audit measurement.

We are a Faridabad manufacturer supplying Kolkata pan-India by freight. For heavy eastern duty the value is in specifying the instrument to survive the process — the correct furnace protection, the correct steam fitting, the correct wetted material — so that what arrives works and keeps working.

Selection guide

Specifying for Kolkata: heavy duty punishes the wrong choice

Most instrument failures are not manufacturing defects — they are specification mistakes. These are the ones we see most often in Kolkata.

Furnace and foundry thermocouples fail at the well

In steel and foundry duty the protection tube takes thermal shock, scale and mechanical abuse. Match the sheath and ceramic protection to the atmosphere and temperature, and the thermocouple stops being a monthly consumable.

Steam and boiler gauges need siphons, always

Live steam cooks a gauge movement in weeks. A pigtail or coil siphon fills with condensate and protects it — a trivial cost against a gauge you keep re-buying in a jute mill or a power house.

High-pressure duty is a safety item

On boilers and hydraulic systems the gauge is part of the safety case — correct range, over-range protection, blow-out back and the right connection are not optional. We specify them as standard.

Corrosive and fertiliser media need diaphragm seals

Aggressive and crystallising media destroy direct-connected instruments. Diaphragm seals with the correct wetted material and fill fluid keep the process off the instrument.

Specify certificates for audited plants

Steel, power and refinery plants audit measurement. Tell us the documentation you need with the order and the instrument arrives complete and audit-ready.

Kolkata case study

A power-house steam header eating gauges

A captive power plant in the Durgapur belt was replacing steam-header pressure gauges far too often, keeping a stock of cheap gauges and swapping them as they failed — treated as an unavoidable cost of a steam plant.

The gauges were connected directly to the header with no siphon. Live steam was entering each socket and cooking the movement; no dry gauge survives that, and the cheaper replacements simply failed faster. It was an installation problem wearing the disguise of a gauge-quality problem.

We fitted coil siphons and gauge savers, ranged the gauges to sit at two-thirds of scale, and used filled gauges on the pulsating points. The steam condensed in the siphon loop and protected the movement. The frequent replacements stopped and the gauge spend collapsed — fixed by a fitting worth a fraction of the gauge.

Specify it to survive

In heavy duty, the instrument's first job is to last

Eastern India's heavy plants waste a lot of instrument spend not on premium instruments but on cheap ones bought repeatedly, because the installation was never specified. A steam gauge without a siphon, a furnace thermocouple with the wrong protection, a corrosive line with a direct gauge — each fails predictably, and the usual response is a cheaper replacement that fails just as fast.

We would rather specify it to survive once. Supplying by freight from Faridabad, what we bring is the correct furnace protection, the correct steam fitting, the correct wetted material — the specification that makes an instrument last in hard duty, arriving complete and documented.

FAQs

Questions Kolkata buyers ask us

Do you supply high-pressure steam and boiler gauges?
Yes — Bourdon tube gauges up to 1000 bar with SS316 wetted parts, supplied with siphons and gauge savers for live-steam duty, with advice on mounting and blow-down.
Can you supply furnace thermocouples for steel and foundry duty?
Yes — thermocouples of the correct calibration (K/R/S), with sheaths and ceramic protection tubes matched to your furnace atmosphere and temperature, calibrated with certificates.
Do you supply certified transmitters for the Haldia refinery belt?
Yes — flameproof / certified VIPL transmitters supplied to your area classification, with remote seals for hot and viscous media. We do not substitute uncertified instruments into certified areas.
My steam gauges keep failing — what's missing?
Almost always a siphon. Live steam cooks the movement in weeks; a pigtail or coil siphon protects it for a fraction of the gauge cost.
How long does delivery to Kolkata take?
Stock items are typically 4–7 working days by freight; engineered items follow the quoted build time. We provide tracking.
Do your instruments come with certificates?
Yes — traceable calibration and material/test certificates suited to steel, power and refinery quality systems.
Do you handle GST for West Bengal?
Yes — a proper GST invoice with IGST for West Bengal, e-invoiced with IRN.
Do you supply diaphragm sealed gauges for chemical and fertiliser media?
Yes — diaphragm seals with the correct wetted material and fill fluid so the process never reaches the instrument.
Do you take annual maintenance contracts?
Yes — scheduled calibration, on-site checks and priority support, suited to the east's boiler and furnace-heavy plants.

In short

Instrumentation for Kolkata

Vedika Instruments supplies Kolkata and eastern India's heavy industry — steel and metals, foundries and engineering, jute and textiles, chemicals and fertiliser, thermal power and the Haldia refinery and port, across Howrah, Durgapur, Asansol and the Hooghly corridor. This is hot, hard, continuous duty where instruments must survive: furnace thermocouples with the right protection, high-pressure steam and boiler gauges with siphons, hydraulic press gauges that take spikes, diaphragm sealed instruments for corrosive media, and certified transmitters for Haldia — every item built, calibrated and documented.

We manufacture in Faridabad and supply Kolkata pan-India by freight. In heavy duty the instrument's first job is to last, so what we bring is the specification that makes it survive — the correct furnace protection, the correct steam fitting, the correct wetted material — arriving complete and audit-ready. Specified to survive once beats a cheap replacement bought over and over.
